Lewis Hinely
Lewis Hinely is a retired Medical Illustrator. He remembers first studying drawing at age six. He began figure drawing at 12 and started oil painting and portrait work at 13. His academic career began at UGA under the direction of Lamar Dodd. He transferred to the Medical College of Georgia where he completed BS and MS degrees in Medical Illustration. His professional career was at what is now the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. During that time he also earned his Ed.D. from UGA. Since his retirement he and his wife Patsy have moved to “Hollywood,” Georgia, where he maintains a painting studio in his home when he is not playing with grandchildren or singing in a choir.
